About Gen2: Excellence in Technical Education
Established in 2000, Gen2 is a leading training provider specialising in the Engineering, Nuclear, and Manufacturing sectors. In May 2017, Gen2 became part of the City & Guilds Group, strengthening its position within the UK’s technical education landscape.
Operating from five dedicated training centres across Cumbria, Gen2 employs over 150 staff, the majority of whom are engaged directly in programme delivery. Our strategic focus on commercial training continues to expand both our geographic reach and programme portfolio.
Gen2 has developed a robust suite of higher-level programmes to meet the evolving needs of industry, including foundation degrees in nuclear-related technologies. Teaching and learning excellence is at the heart of what we do—our success rates are typically 20% above the national average, reflecting our commitment to academic and professional achievement.
Collaboration is central to Gen2’s ethos. We have played a key role in trailblazer projects to design new apprenticeship frameworks and continue to work closely with academic partners to create industry-driven degree programmes.
Currently, Gen2 supports over 300 clients—both local and national—delivering an extensive range of qualifications from Level 2 study programmes to Level 6 degree apprenticeships. Many of these offerings have been developed in direct response to employer needs or government initiatives.
In designing programmes for local, national, and international partners, Gen2 proactively engages with delivery partners to enrich our capability. We take pride in delivering training that meets expectations for quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely execution.
At present, Gen2 supports:
- Approximately 1,250 apprentices in learning
- Around 300 higher education students
- Over 10,000 delegate days of short-course training annually
