Additional Learning Support (ALS)

Gen2 is an inclusive learning environment where learning, achievement and progression are accessible to everyone.

Gen2 fosters an inclusive learning environment where education, achievement, and personal progression are accessible to all. Our Additional Learning Support (ALS) is designed to promote equitable access and advancement by responding to each learner's individual needs. We uphold the belief that every learner has the right to work, study, and grow in an environment where they:

  • Are treated with respect and dignity
  • Feel welcomed and supported
  • Experience fairness and impartiality
  • Are encouraged to share any additional learning needs
  • Benefit from equal opportunities in learning and training
  • Have, wherever possible, full access to facilities and support services
  • Trust that any reported harassment or discrimination will be addressed promptly and appropriately

Following a thorough assessment of needs, learners are provided with tailored support to help them succeed in their programme of study.

Referrals to the ALS team can be made by speaking with a tutor or by contacting Additional Learning Support directly via email at .

Learning Resource Centre

Gen2 provides a dedicated space designed to support learners in achieving their full potential. This welcoming and well-equipped environment offers access to our Learning Support Team for assistance with identified learning needs and general study support. Learners may also use the space for independent study at their own pace.

The area features:

  • Three fixed desktop computers and additional laptops
  • A group work table to encourage collaborative learning
  • A smaller table for focused, individual study
  • A comfortable corner designed for relaxed, self-directed learning

In addition, our Learning Resource Centre hosts a designated Learning Support Team member during set times each week. Learners are welcome to drop in during these times for help, advice, or guidance related to their academic needs.

Cognasisst

As part of our commitment to personalised support for every learner, all new learners are offered the opportunity to complete a Cognassist assessment. Cognassist is a neurodiversity platform that evaluates cognitive functioning across eight distinct domains of the brain. This assessment helps identify individual learning needs and preferences, enabling us to tailor support accordingly.

The resulting Cognassist report highlights both areas of cognitive strength and potential challenges, allowing us to better understand each learner’s profile and provide targeted assistance where needed.

At Gen2, we are proud to champion neurodiversity and are dedicated to fostering a positive and inclusive ethos that embraces the unique strengths and perspectives of all learners.
