During the practical section of this course candidates will engage in and apply the following skills:

• Reading and interpreting hydraulic circuit diagrams 
• Constructing a simple hydraulic circuit 
• Selecting and installing components as prescribed by the circuit diagrams 
• Setting up procedure relating to hydraulic components
• Testing the performance of a pump involving the use of basic diagnostics 
• Application of LOTO procedure when working with live hydraulics and applying safe working practices 
• Basic fault- finding procedures 
• Knowledge Based

On completion of this course candidates will know:

• The fundamental principles that underpin all hydraulic systems
• Hydraulic Symbols ISO 1219-1:2012 
• Types of Flow control devices-function and operation 
• Types of Pressure control devices-function and operation 
• Types of Direction control devices-function and operation
• Types of Pumps and their operation including hydraulic accumulators 
• Types of hydraulic hoses and the meaning of (STAMPED) 
• Hydraulic fluid in Common use and the importance of Contamination Control
