Highways Maintenance Level 2 - Highways Maintenance Skilled Operative

  • 18 months (depending on employer) plus End Point Assessment

Overview:

As a Highways Maintenance Skilled Operative apprentice, you will learn the skills, knowledge and behaviours to be able to work on rural and urban roads to repair damaged surfaces, using hand and power tools and pedestrian plant machinery.

Entry Requirements:

Entry requirements may vary but are typically GCSE Grades 9-4 (or A*-C) in maths, English and a science subject.

What will I study?

Learners undertaking this apprenticeship will cover as minimum:

  • Structure of the Construction Industry

  • Exploring Health Safety and Welfare in Construction

  • Sustainability in Construction Industry

  • Construction Processes for Low Rise Domestic Buildings

  • Maths and Science in Construction

  • Placing and Finishing Non-Specialist Concrete

  • Developing Skills in Excavating and Locating Services

  • Developing Skills for Reinstating Highways Surfaces

What qualifications will I achieve?

On successful completion of this apprenticeship learners will achieve:

  • Apprenticeship in Highways Maintenance Skilled Operative

  • Level 2 in English and Maths (if not already achieved)
