Objective:

The aim of this course is to instruct and train delegates in the safe use, storage, maintenance and mounting of all classes and types of abrasive wheels and in the use of portable grinders. This course is suitable for all personnel who are required to mount or supervise the mounting and dressing of abrasive wheels and use of portable grinding machines.

By the end of the course the participants will:

• Express knowledge of legislation and current regulations covering the use of abrasive wheels. 
• State the hazards associated with the use of abrasive wheels. 
• Describe in detail – wheel marking and identification, storage and handling and inspection and testing.
• Select the correct personal protective equipment (PPE) for use when using abrasive wheels. 
• Identify and state the function of all components on abrasive wheel machines 
• Demonstrate the correct method for the dressing of all types of abrasive wheel including correct rest adjustment. 
• Demonstrate the safe use of portable grinding machines

Qualification gained:

Course delegates will receive a Gen2 Certificate of Attendance for safe use of portable grinders/ abrasive wheels.
